Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is known as the character Detective Diane Russell in the ABC series NYPD Blue. Also, she was a part of the drama series All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney is the daughter of an executive from the United Auto Workers who was also an auntie. Delaney has four older brothers. In her early years, she dreamt of being a reporter for the court. However, after graduating from high school, and moving into New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. The role she was given was that of a child's innocence in the soap opera All My Children. Delaney was in numerous of television shows, films and dramas after that. Similar to her profession, her personal life hasn't been a success or happy one. She is skilled and stunning, has had to battle drinking before. The marriages she has had ended in failure twice. In 2005, the actress was denied custody over her one son.
