Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's the first artist of female gender with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she first gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to post her music on the internet, including her independent single Bound. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs for the Dreamville Team in the following year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. On December 8 it was revealed that she had contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she recorded together with Cozz in her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus with Bas and her labelmates. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. On the 9th of November the singer released two new singles, 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, on November 13 she dropped two more singles entitled One and Pdigree. One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single the 26th of February, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole as part of her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The song was followed by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019 that surpassed three million views via YouTube in its first seven days. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
